What Is File Metadata?
Every file you create contains hidden data beyond what you can see. Photos include EXIF data with the exact GPS coordinates of where you took the shot, what camera and lens you used, and what settings were active. Documents embed the author's name, company, revision history, and creation date.
This hidden metadata can reveal personal details you never intended to share. Our tool strips it all out — giving you a clean file with just the content, nothing more.
EXIF Data
Camera model, ISO, shutter speed, aperture, and shooting date
GPS Location
Exact coordinates of where the photo was taken

How It Works
Upload Your File
Drag and drop or click to upload. Supports images (JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, TIFF), PDFs, videos, and audio files.
We Strip the Metadata
Images and PDFs are processed on our servers using Sharp and pdf-lib. Videos and audio are cleaned in your browser using FFmpeg.
Download Clean File
Your file is returned with all metadata removed. The filename gets a "_clean" suffix so you can tell it apart.
Frequently Asked Questions
What metadata does this tool remove?
For images: EXIF data (GPS, camera model, settings, date/time, orientation), IPTC (author, keywords, copyright), and XMP fields. For PDFs: title, author, subject, keywords, producer, and creator fields. For video and audio: container-level metadata tags via FFmpeg stream copy.
Does removing metadata change the image quality?
For images, we re-encode with a high quality setting (95% for JPEG and WebP) which is visually lossless. GIF, PNG, and AVIF files are handled with appropriate quality settings. Video and audio files use stream copy — no re-encoding — so quality is completely unchanged.
Are my files uploaded to your servers?
Images and PDFs are sent to our server for processing and deleted immediately after your cleaned file is returned. Video and audio files are processed entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — they never leave your device.
Why would I want to remove metadata?
Common reasons include privacy (removing GPS location from photos before sharing online), security (stripping author information from documents before sending), and reducing file size. It's also useful when submitting files anonymously or sharing images on social media.
