Our Mission

We created FlipMyFiles with a straightforward goal: provide a reliable file conversion tool that respects user privacy and works directly in the browser. Many existing conversion tools require software downloads, account creation, or paid subscriptions for basic features. FlipMyFiles removes those barriers by offering conversion tools accessible to anyone with a web browser.

Why FlipMyFiles Was Built

File format compatibility remains a common challenge. Whether you need to convert a photo taken on your phone to a format your editing software supports, extract audio from a video, or turn a spreadsheet into a CSV for data import, these tasks come up regularly for both personal and professional use.

FlipMyFiles was built to address these needs in a simple, accessible way. Rather than installing desktop software or navigating complex settings, users can upload a file, select the output format, and download the result within seconds.

What We Support

FlipMyFiles supports conversion across several file categories:

• Images: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, TIFF, AVIF, SVG, ICO, and HEIC
• Video: MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WebM, FLV, and WMV
• Audio: MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC, AAC, WMA, and M4A
• Documents: DOCX, PDF, TXT, CSV, and XLSX
• Archives: ZIP, TAR, and GZ

Video and audio conversions are processed entirely in your browser using WebAssembly technology, meaning those files never leave your device. Image and document conversions are processed on the server and the data is discarded immediately after the conversion completes.

Privacy and File Handling

We take file handling seriously. Here is how the service works:

• Files processed server-side are handled in memory and are not written to permanent storage
• Video and audio files are converted entirely in your browser and never uploaded to our servers
• No user accounts or personal information are collected
• All file transfers are encrypted using HTTPS
• We do not analyze, index, or retain the content of uploaded files

Limitations

We believe in being transparent about what the service can and cannot do:

• The maximum upload size is 250 MB per file
• Some format combinations may produce varying results depending on the source file's encoding or complexity
• Video and audio conversion speed depends on your device's processing power since those conversions run in the browser
• Document conversions (such as DOCX to PDF) handle text content well but may not preserve complex formatting, embedded objects, or custom fonts
• The service may experience temporary downtime during maintenance or updates

Technology

FlipMyFiles uses a combination of server-side and client-side processing to handle conversions. Image conversions use the Sharp library, a high-performance image processing tool. Video and audio conversions use FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, allowing those conversions to happen directly in the browser without sending data to a server. Document conversions rely on specialized libraries for each format type.
